Maggie Dawson BSc (Hons) MCSP Highly Specialised Paediatric Physiotherapist and the Director of Children’s Physio Dorset. With over 17 years of experience working with children and young people across the NHS, private practice, and international settings, including Australia and the Cayman Islands.
Maggie is passionate about helping every child reach their full potential through a warm, family-centred, and evidence-based approach. She works with babies, children, and young people with a wide range of neurological, developmental, and complex physical needs, including cerebral palsy, genetic and neuromuscular conditions, and acquired brain injury.
She offers a wide range of services including Baby MOTs, neurodevelopmental physiotherapy sessions, hydrotherapy, intensive therapy blocks, and longer sessions for families travelling from further afield. Maggie also provides equipment assessment and provision, EHCP support, and collaborative therapy planning with schools and multidisciplinary teams. Sessions can take place in her well-equipped home clinic in Poole or through home, nursery, and school visits across Dorset and surrounding areas.
She is trained in a broad range of specialist techniques and approaches including Dynamic Movement Intervention (DMI), Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES), Task-Specific Electrical Stimulation (TASES), and Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES). She also has extensive experience with dynamic splinting and orthotic management, including Second Skin and DMO garments, and is one of the few therapists in the UK using the NeuroSuit as part of intensive therapy programmes. She undertakes medico-legal and expert witness work.
Her practice is grounded in clinical expertise, creativity, and compassion, empowering children and families to achieve meaningful progress in movement, function, and participation.
