StandSure
A therapy product designed by a physiotherapist for therapists. The equipment offers maximum comfort for the user’s feet while performing their structured and supervised rehabilitation programmes.
StandSure™ is a piece of rehabilitation equipment for all ages of people with neuromusculoskeletal conditions affecting their ability to maintain good foot posture on the ground. Ineffective weight bearing can lead to poor balance and co-ordination of motor tasks such as rising from a chair, heel strike and climbing stairs.
It is intended to be used as part of a structured and supervised rehabilitation programme for conditions such as:
> Cerebral palsy
> Stroke
> Dementia
> Developmental delay
> Dystonia
> Post-surgery e.g., TA, hamstring lengthening procedures
> Tip toe walking
It is currently being used by healthcare professionals in private and NHS clinics, rehabilitation centres, special schools and patient’s homes.

Today we used StandSure with a client who has scoliosis with rotation. By tilting the bench and the board we can keep his feet secure while working on strengthening the other side.

I have been using the Standsure aid for a number of months now and with children of a variety of ages, abilities and conditions. It has now become a regular piece of therapy equipment during my treatment sessions. One of my specialist schools now uses all 3 sizes of the Standsure and they have also been purchased for children to use at home. It can allow activities to be carried out by just one therapist/carer which previously would have been perhaps a session requiring 2 adults. The Standsure aid is so portable that it is easy to pop it in the car and use in different settings, including specialist and mainstream schools, clinics and children’s homes. It is a very useful aid to stabilise the child’s feet when working on sit-to-stand transfers and on standing balance and I have found that these skills have progressed quicker with its use. It is so easy to set up that school staff and parents are happy to use it. For children who already have standing balance or are able to walk, but have atypical postures and patterns of movement, the Standsure is a very useful adjunct to therapy. It enables the child to weight-bear with a more aligned posture and to exercise and strengthen muscles using more typical movement patterns enabling positive neural plasticity and muscle memory. I always have one in my car!

This 15 month old child with developmental delay showed no potential to stand but after 3 weeks using StandSure look at her now!

This has been such a welcome adjunct to therapy and hugely successful in schools, clinic and home environments.

I’ve found this to be a great help in a busy acute environment reducing double handed sessions to single handed. Not requiring a second pair of hands to constantly support foot placement. Additionally, enhancing the patient’s active ability of key sitting and standing features.
RIDING FOR THE DISABLED ASSOCIATION –
The Standsure board has been really useful in helping a young person regain symmetrical weight bearing and heel contact following hamstring and TA lengthening surgery
